Struisbaai is a quaint little fishing village in the Overberg region of the Western Cape. With one of the longest uninterrupted white beaches in the Southern hemisphere, this popular little holiday town promises white-washed fishermen’s houses, colourful fishing boats, a working harbour, and plenty of coastal charm.

Struisbaai prides itself on its beautiful beach that stretches 14km from Struisbaai to Arniston. The beach is a fantastic spot for water sports like kayaking, boating, surfing, body boarding, fishing, and kite surfing, as well as shell collecting, beach strolls, and whale watching. Keep an eye out for the beautiful giant sting rays that live in these sheltered waters, some of which are 2m long.

The little harbour in Struisbaai was originally built in 1959 and enlarged in 1990. It serves both fishing and ski boats for holidaymakers. Meet the fishermen as they come in with their catch and get some fresh fish for dinner.

Visit the nearby Cape Agulhas at the southernmost tip of Africa and the point where the Indian and Atlantic Ocean meet. The Agulhas lighthouse affords a stunning view of the coastline and the Overberg wine route is just a short drive away.

With a number of charming restaurants and pubs, Struisbaai is a fantastic holiday destination.
